What would we give for a peek at Ethan P Flynn’s phone contacts? Considering Flynn has worked with FKA Twigs (on her acclaimed MAGDALENE album), David Byrne, Slowthai and Vegyn, we’d say they’d be worth a fair amount. Little wonder that he dropped out of the Guildhall School of Music at 18 – why stick with the academic route when you’ve got David Byrne calling?

Now he’s stepping into the limelight with his own brand of off-kilter pop. The songwriter, beatmaker and multi-instrumentalist’s first track “Everybody’s Dying To Meet You” is the jaunty soundtrack to his own (unwarranted) imposter syndrome, amazingly self-assured for someone baring his insecurities to the world. 

Debut album B Sides and Rarities: Vol 1 is a trip through the mind of a musical polyglot, sometimes a gut punch of swirling experimental sounds, other times almost medieval in its slaloming flutes and strings. There’s no one out there doing it quite like Flynn.
