It was only a few months ago that Tierra Whack declared she was leaving music, writing on Instagram: “I’m done.” Yet the Philadelphia rapper has gone onto drop a flurry of tracks, including “Walk The Beat” and “8”, as well as appearing on Willow Smith’s lately i feel EVERYTHING and the Pokémon 25 album.
All these mixed signals have undoubtedly left a Tierra Whack-shaped question mark in our minds, which makes the rapper’s three genre-themed EPs – Rap?, Pop?, and this week’s R&B? – all the more intriguing. With a new release every Thursday this month, each EP features three tracks loosely in the style of the genre it’s named after. “It’s Whack History Month. Any month I’m dropping back-to-back, it’s Whack History Month, so that’s what we’re doing,” Tierra Whack told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1. So, we’re turning the tables with a question of our own: what’s next, Tierra?
